Lesson: Timelines: Transits & Progressions

Genesis Astrology is science-based, not a belief system. As more is researched and proven, lessons will be updated. See the date of the latest revision to this lesson at the bottom of the page.

Transits & Progressions: Definitions below.
Cycle: Generic term for a cyclical influence, including Transits & Progressions.

Transits & Progressions represent the Timelines in your life.

 >WHEN things are likely to happen.
Transits & Progressions are the calendars you live by, whether you know it or not.

Your Natal Chart reveals who you are: The talents and challenges in your inner makeup and your origin story. It shows the initial hand you chose pre-incarnation or were dealt by the Universe, depending on your worldview.
But you’re not stuck there.
Your Natal Chart evolves.

Your Natal Chart is your lifelong Imprint and will always carry about 50% of the weight.

You also have 3 evolutionary Timelines: Pure Progressions, Progressed Transits, and Transits.
Evolutionary cycles show both the timing of your opportunities and the timing of your tests.
Everyone gets both.
Both ultimately serve you.

These cycles are always in motion and always affecting you.
They weave in and out with each other throughout your life.

>>>Your current cycles actually have a bigger influence on your day-to-day feelings, thoughts, and capacities than the people and circumstances around you. People blame people and situations when often it’s really the stars.

Pure Progressions

Pure Progressions are the positions of your progressed planets in aspect and geometry to each other, each point moving along at its own orbital speed, including retrogrades if any.
A Natal chart.

Pure Progressions are the longest and strongest influences affecting you at any given time.
Pure Progressions can last many years.
They are at their strongest in the final 3 years before they peak.
They are at absolute apex power in the final 1 year before they peak.
They fade gradually over 4-5 months after the peak.

Moon Progressions*: Moon Progressions have a faster timeline. They are strongest in the final month before they peak, and have a fade period of no more than a month after they peak.  *Reminder: Do not use Moon for any untimed chart.

Progressions in Genesis Astrology calculate using the classic ‘day for a year’ method, which has proven itself. Symbolically, each 24-hour period after birth represents one year in the life of the Native. To see what turning 40 will look like, look at the chart 40 days after birth.

>Pure progressions set the stage, they set the context within which all of your other cycles play out.

Progressed Transits

Progressed Transits are the positions of the progressed planets in aspect and geometry to your natal planetary positions.
A Combined Chart [CC].

Progressed Transits are second-tier cycles.
They are second in strength and influence to Pure Progressions.
They can also last years.
The influence of each builds up and fades out just like Pure Progressions.

Both kinds of Progressions
Act as ‘harvest calendars’ showing you when things are likely to happen.
Both kinds of Progressions reveal:
Good Times: The times you harvest dreams.
Tough Times: The times you get tested, and/or harvest consequences.

Keep an eye on your Progressions
Upcoming bad progressions? Prepare.
Upcoming good progressions? Stage.
Great progressions in the future are placeholders, revealing the windows you should be staging for.
>But even if you have extraordinary progressions in the future, if you didn’t plant any seeds, there will be nothing to harvest.

>>>Time to talk about Transits.

The Transit Complex>> A new concept to be introduced in an update to this lesson. Impacts both Progressed Transits and Transits.

Transits

Transits are aspects & geometry from planets in the sky to your natal planetary positions.
A Combined Chart [CC].

Transits are third-tier cycles.
They are third in strength as a cyclical influence.

>But… Transits are first for FIRSTS!

If progressions are harvest calendars, transits are planting calendars.
Transits are the cycles that are referenced to lock important dates.

Transits tell WHEN to do it, start it, meet them, for best odds of the desired outcome.
Use Transits to lock an important date for the best odds of the outcome you want.

Transits are how to know when to plant the seeds you’ll later harvest under your great progressions.
Got strong Transits???? Stage HARD for future harvests. Initiate, meet, launch.
Got bad Transits? Sit them out. Launch nothing, meet no one new, make no major decisions.

The 3 Cycles together

Both kinds of Progressions set the mood, set the stage, bring the vibe.
If Progressions load the gun, Transits often pull the trigger.

All 3 are influencing you daily, how you feel, what you think, how much energy you have:
Great progressions make great transits feel even better.
Bad progressions make great transits feel worse.
Great progressions make bad transits feel less bad.
Bad progressions make bad transits feel worse.

Overarching Cycles

Overarching Cycles are created by overarching points. These cycles have more general meanings and can affect many areas of life. Most points have more specific and granular meanings and only impact the areas of life they specifically represent. See Lesson; Planets & Points

Challenge Cycles

Challenge Cycles are transits or progressions from/with/by a Challenge Point. See Lesson: Planets & Points
Challenge Cycles are testing times which can tear down false constructs in your life.

Challenge Cycles: Take strength to navigate, but will give back built-up strength as you do.
Destroy what is holding you back.
NEVER take away what is rightfully yours or needed for your mission and best life.

Cycles and Decision-Making

You can run but you can’t hide. Switching out a job, place, or relationship can’t fix your cycles. If you’re in tough cycles, your decision-making is likely way off. Tough cycles are usually times to shelter in place, unless the place/person really is the problem. This can be very hard to know during the worst of the storm.

Cycles and the Bell Curve

Most cycles are mid. Not great, not terrible.
Even Challenge Cycles can vary in how strong they are and what areas of life they impact.
You spend most of your life in mid-level or mixed cycles. You may be in just generally-meh cycles, or maybe in some good cycles and some bad, so life seems like some good, some bad. This is the norm. Most years are like this.

Rarest opportunity cycles
A few rare periods here and there in your life are incredible. Rare windows of opportunity. Times when you can soar. No more glass ceiling, or any ceiling. Jackpot opportunities. These are times to identify in advance and to stage for.

Rarest extreme risk cycles
A few rare periods here and there can be devastating. Life will test what you built and hand you a failing grade on anything you built out of alignment. These are Tower [Tarot card] times that take out your most wobbly structures, whether they are mindsets, situations, or relationships. Ultimately these periods serve growth but they are no fun to weather. The greatest risks come from Overarching Progressions, when many areas of your life can be tested. Knowing when high-risk progressions are coming, and what general or specific challenge(s) you are likely to face, can help you be proactive to prepare:
Lifestyle changes/get healthy/get in shape
Pay down credit cards
Divest risky investments
Couples Counseling
Shore up a business
Whatever is needed.
