Planets & Points: How To

The interpretation of each point is always subject to change as research continues. Sometimes qualities attributed to a point are more clearly represented in a new point. Tiny, trad astrology planet sets had to try to fit all human behavior/meaning/philosophy/experience into only a tiny set of archetypes. Expanding the archetypes from the trad 9 or 12 points to 50+ points reveals the clear need for adjustments. Interpretations listed are what has been proven to work consistently so far… We’ll add points and update interpretations as more is discovered.

Point: A catchall term for a Planet, Asteroid, Dwarf Planet, or Mid-Point.

Planet Glyphs: Trad astrology uses glyphs [symbols] to represent the relatively few points used. Genesis Astrology uses too many points to memorize a symbol for each. In Genesis charts the first 3 letters are used. So far 3 letters are enough…

Venus = Ven
Vesta = Ves
Jupiter = Jup
Juno = Jun

Planetary Expression
The energy in a point will ALWAYS express itself somehow.

Direct & Retrograde Motion

In Geocentric Astrology only, points sometimes appear to hit the brakes and go backwards, then later appear to reverse and go forward again. This is called a retrograde. It’s due to our skewed perspective: Earth is not the center of our Solar System. Points don’t really change direction, it just looks that way from Earth.

Amplification Points

Some points amplify the power of other points when in aspect or geometry.

Positive amplifiers: Amplify the energy AND skew it toward the positive.
Isis
Ixion
Odin

Neutral amplifiers: Amplify the energy but don’t skew the energy toward the positive or toward the negative.
Ceres

Negative amplifiers: Amplify the energy AND skew it toward the negative.
Varuna

Cohort Points & Contra Points

Cohort Points: Share at least one similar or overlapping meaning. Cohorts usually work well together in aspect or geometry, and the interpretation usually follows the similar or overlapping meaning(s). See Cohort Groups below.

Contra Points: Hold opposite meanings and can work destructively in aspect. See Contra Points below.

Challenge Points

Helpful points challenge nothing. They support the social fabric and ease human interactions.
Challenge Points challenge people, relationships, systems.
They challenge your ego. They challenge your choices. They challenge your attachments.
They also challenge the social fabric. While helpful points knit people together and build cooperation, challenge points challenge unity, teamwork and reciprocity. and can create challenging human interactions.

Challenge Points may feel like they are corrupting the energy of the other planet in the aspect they are in.
Actually, they serve to test the energy of the other point in aspect.

Everyone prefers ease over challenge, but challenge is how you grow.

• Challenge is how you see what to fix.
• Challenge is how you course-correct.
• Challenge drives your EVOLUTION.

Temporarily, Challenge Points usually create some level of discomfort. The more you can accept the challenge/lesson, the easier the process. The more you fight the unfolding lesson, the harder the process will be.

Challenge Points in Natal Aspects and Geometries:
Illustrate ‘buried treasure.’
Can be lifelong challenges if not addressed through self-work.
When enough levels of self-work are completed, the Challenge Aspect transitions into a strength.

Challenge Points by Transit or Progression [Challenge Cycles or Challenge Timelines]:
Testing times which can tear down false constructs in your life.
Can destroy anything that hinders your journey.
NEVER take anything you need for your best life or your mission. Really.
>Challenge cycles take strength to navigate, but they build up and cycle back your strength as they do.
Challenge Cycles ask the question: Will the other point’s energy stand up against this test?

Overarching Points

A few points have more overarching meanings and can affect many areas of life. Most points have more specific and granular meanings and only impact the areas of life they represent. Getting perspective on charts takes major experience.
Best advice to students is: Don’t freak out over anything.
We’ve all been there during our student years.

Pretty much every point is a double-edged sword.
Good points can still have a downside, bad ones can still have an upside.

You have every point in your chart.
So does everyone.
So does every chart.
So does every event chart.

You’ll see talents and gifts in your chart.
You’ll see challenges and inner conflict in your chart.

You’ll see periods ahead of ease.
You’ll see periods ahead that will test you.

You’ll see good and bad in every chart you analyze.
Allllll normal.
Take a breath.
Take time to learn what it all really means. Practice a lot. More experience = less reactivity.
