Lesson: Glossary

Genesis Astrology is science-based, not a belief system. As more is researched and proven, lessons will be updated. See the date of the latest revision to this lesson at the bottom of the page.

Alignment: See Geometry.

Alignment: Also, when interpretations of points align with the venture in a Ruling Chart.

Amplification Factor: Factors that increase the power of a planet or aspect. See online lesson: Planets & Points

Amplification Point: A point that increases or amplifies another point when in aspect or geometry. See online lesson: Planets & Points

Contra Points: Points which hold at least one opposite meaning. Often do not work constructively together in aspect. See Lesson: Planets & Points

Contra-Latitude: A Contra-Parallel in Helio. A uniquely significant aspect since its midpoint is parallel Earth. This means that in a natal chart, the midpoint aspect is an aspect the native has with all people on Earth. Genesis text symbol: #. See Lesson: Aspects & Geometry

Contra-Parallel: An aspect in Geocentric Declinations. Two planets within orb but on opposite sides of the celestial equator, i.e. one planet is north, the other is south. Text symbol: #. See Lesson: Aspects & Geometry

Cord: Found in every kind of relationship: Romantic, family, friendship, professional. Links and clashes between your charts that create Cords that are hard to cut. Uneven Cords between you create a power imbalance.  See Lesson: Relationships: Cords & Bonds

Cycles: Transits or Progressions. See Lesson: Timelines: Progressions & Transits

D

Decimal Format: Genesis Astrology notes planetary degree positions in decimal format rather than the degree and minute format. Example: a planet shown at 22.5° in a Genesis Chart would be the same as a planet shown at 22° 30′ in a trad chart.

Declinations: The vertical locations of the planets in Geo. The Declination of a planet is the distance north or south of the Celestial Equator.

Deks: Abbreviation for Declinations.

Free Will Universe: Nothing is fully fated, though you and the Universe drew up the basic plan  pre-incarnation. You’ll definitely feel the pushes and pulls of the stars, and you get to decide. You’ll get both the benefits and consequences of every choice. >>Align with your Plan. Move at the pace of miracles. That means, slow enough to see what the Universe is lining up for you for each next step. Takes patience. Takes practice. Worth it, creates a life in alignment.

Longitudes: The commonly used dimension of trad astrology- the locations of the planets horizontally around the zodiac wheel. See Lesson: Dimensionality

Looped Transit AKA Loop Transit: When a transiting planet makes an exact conjunction with a natal planet in direct motion, goes retrograde and makes exact conjunction again, then resumes direct motion and becomes exact a third time- essentially making a loop around the natal planet. Could also loop the natal planet retrograde, direct, retrograde. The tighter the orb between the natal planet and the outer edge of the loop, the more powerful this transit is. See Lesson: Timelines: Progressions & Transits

Midheaven: A calculated point in a trad astrology chart that refers to the highest point in the sky on the exact day, time and place for which a chart is cast.

Midpoint:
In Longitudes: A hypothetical point in space which is exactly equidistant between two planets/points around the wheel. There are 2 midpoints: the Near Midpoint is the midpoint closest to the two planets on the wheel. The Far Midpoint is the midpoint furthest from the two planets. Near and far midpoints are always exactly opposite.
In Declinations & Latitudes: A hypothetical point which is exactly equidistant between two planets or points.

Shadow: A term originated by psychologist Carl Jung. Your Shadow is the part of yourself that’s hard to look at or think about. Your Shadow contains the parts yourself which you have disowned, your unloved parts of self. Shadow meanings of points are the ways the point’s energies can express in self-sabotaging ways.
