Lesson: Aspects & Geometry
Genesis Astrology is science-based, not a belief system. As more is researched and proven, lessons will be updated. See the date of the latest revision to any lesson at the bottom of the lesson page.
Aspects
Angle: The mathematical relationship between two point in an aspect.
Aspect: Two or more points forming a recognized pattern within allowable orbs.
Orb: The allowable distance from exact for any aspect. The allowed fudge-factor.
Verticals: Geocentric Declinations and Heliocentric Latitudes.
See Glossary for more terminology.
Longitudes:
Genesis Astrology uses the numerical angles to describe aspects in the longitudes, not words or glyphs.
Genesis Angles
0 = Conjunction
30 = Semi-sextile
60 = Sextile
90 = Square
120 = Trine
150 = Quincunx
180 = Opposition
Verticals
Text symbols
// = Parallel
# = Contra-parallel or Contra-latitude
Genesis Astrology also uses other angles in longitudes such as the 102, 154, and others. More will be released about these other aspects as current research is concluded.
Aspect Orbs
Genesis Astrology Distance Orbs
Distance in degrees to exact.
Longitudes, all: 3.0°
Geo Declinations: 1.20°
Helio Latitudes: 0.30°
Trad astrology uses much bigger orbs.
Don’t cheat past Genesis limits. Tempting, but cheating will corrupt your findings.
>Stay tight. That’s one major way you stay accurate.
Time Orbs
Genesis also uses Time Orbs: Distance in days/hours to exact. >More to come about this.
Aspect Energies
Aspects can add a layer of added meaning to the points they connect.
Link Aspects: 0, 120, //
Link angles generally bring helpful energies.
0 and // = Blended energies
120 = Flowing, highly synergistic, mutually supportive
Clash Aspects: 90, 180
Clash Angles bring challenging energies.
90 = Misaligned, combative energies, difficult to reconcile
180 = Polarized, competitive energies, either/or, difficult to balance
Changing Aspects: 150, #
Changing angles bring helpful energy if not made with a Challenge Point.
If made with a Challenge Point, the energy becomes unhelpful.
150, # WITHOUT Challenge Point = basically harmonious & cooperative
150, # WITH Challenge Point = disharmonious, uncooperative
More about Challenge Points
Named Aspects
High-Risk [Old name: Heartbreak]
A clash between Saturn and Chiron, or between the Saturn/Chiron Midpoint and Sun, Earth or Chiron. A Nuclear High-Risk clash is between the Saturn/Jupiter Midpoint and Chiron.
The High-Risk clash challenges/tests the magic of Chiron. This clash brings high-risk situations of all kinds, not just the risk of romantic heartbreak.
Nuclear
A clash between Saturn and Jupiter, or between the Saturn/Jupiter Midpoint and Sun, Earth or Jupiter. A Nuclear High-Risk clash is between the Saturn/Jupiter Midpoint and Chiron.
The Nuclear Clash challenges/tests the benevolence of Jupiter. This clash brings frustration, bad decisions, explosions.
Soulmate [Old name: Cinderella]
Specific 3-point links between 2 charts which always include Chiron.
Soulmate links between charts give a sense of kinship and belonging. You have soulmate links with many people, not just one. Soulmate links juice all kinds of relationships with special love and understanding. Without at least one Soulmate link, a romantic relationship may never feel just right.
See Lesson: Relationships: Soulmates
Icon [Old: Cinderella]
Specific 2-point aspects which always include Chiron.
Icon aspects in a natal chart make the person more likely to succeed, win, achieve, survive, and rise, again and again.
Two-planet Aspects are the building blocks of Geometry.
Geometry
Geometry: [Also Planetary Geometry]
Three or more points forming a recognized pattern within allowable orbs.
See Glossary for more terminology.
Geometry reveals cosmic teamwork: How effectively, how constructively, and how strongly points are working together.
>Geometry is more powerful than any two-planet aspect.
But not all Geometry is equally powerful.
A Geometry’s ‘Rarity Value’ is what determines its power.
Factors increasing Rarity Value:
Number of Planets: The power of a Geometry is directly proportional to the number of planets that form the Geometry, The more planets involved, the more powerful the Geometry.
Exactness: Even within allowable orbs, the more exact the aspects forming a Geometry, the more powerful the geometry.
Symmetry: Symmetrical Geometries are more powerful than asymmetrical Geometries.
Symmetrical Geometry examples: Grand Trine, Yod, Flying Eagle, Fortress, T-Square.
Asymmetrical Geometry example: Mystical Triangle
Symmetrical and asymmetrical patterns can also occur in Declinations and Latitudes.
Named Geometries

Flying Eagle
A minimum of 4 points. Symmetrical. A parallelogram with 2-120s [trines] on sides, 1-90 [square] at base, 2-150s[ quincunxes] crisscross inside, and a 30 [semi-sextile] at the top. A rare and powerful pattern with 2 Mystical Triangles working together. The ability to soar in the areas indicated by the points involved.

Fortress
A minimum of 4 points. Symmetrical. Any rectangle with 2 parallel sides. Powerfully supportive.

Golden Rectangle
A minimum of 4 points. Symmetrical. Sides are formed by 2-120s and 2-60s. A type of Fortress. Strong support.

Grand Trine
A minimum of 3 points. Symmetrical. 3-120s [trines] which form an equilateral triangle. The strongest and most favorable geometry—over the top harmony and synergy.

Iron Butterfly
A minimum of 4 points. Symmetrical. A parallelogram with 2-90s on sides, 1-120 at base, 2-150s crisscross inside, and a 60 on top. Immovable determination coupled with the agility of a butterfly.

Kite
A minimum of 4 points. Symmetrical. 3 points make a Grand Trine, the 4th point is along one side, 60 [sextile] to 2 of the points in the Grand Trine. Much like the Grand Trine energetically.

Mystical Triangle
A minimum of 3 points. Asymmetrical. Sides are formed by 1-120, 1-150, and 1-90. Can indicate harmony and synergy but depends on the points and their positions. A Challenge Point at the corner of the 150 and 90 can make this unhelpful.
Spearhead [Category, no image]
A minimum of 3 points. Symmetrical. Any triangle where 2 sides are equal in length, includes the Yod, Grand Trine, T-Square.

T-Square
A minimum of 3 points. Symmetrical. A triangle with a 180, and 2-90s. Turbulent, challenging, derailing, unhelpful.

Yod
A minimum of 3 points. Symmetrical. A triangle with 2-150s as sides and a 60 at base. One type of Spearhead. Helpful.
Note: Not every side of a Geometry must be a valid stand-alone two-planet aspect.
Amplification
Geometry always amplifies [makes stronger] the points involved.
1. Geometric Amplification
The larger the geometry, the more sheer space it occupies across the wheel or across the vertical, the greater its power.
2. Amplification by Position
Amplification by Exdek: Points are amplified when in the extreme north or extreme south in declinations or latitudes.
3. Amplification by Repetition.
Amplification by Repetition can amplify a two-planet aspect by up to 3x.
Types of Amplification by Repetition:
Eclipses: In Genesis Astrology, an eclipse happens when two points in the same dimension [Geo or Helio], are both conjunct in longitudes AND parallel in declinations or latitudes.
Example: Sun is both conjunct and parallel Jupiter.
Bi-level aspects: The same two points aspect each other in both Geo Longitudes and Declinations, or in Heliocentric Longitudes and Latitudes.
Example: Sun is both trine Jupiter and parallel Jupiter.
Trans-dimensional aspects: The same aspect between the same points in both the geocentric and heliocentric dimensions.
Example: Jupiter 120 Odin in both Geo and Helio.
Repeated themes in planets & aspects: Differing aspects, even aspects made up of differing points, can deliver similar energies and therefore amplify the shared energy.
Example: Venus 120 Odin and Jupiter // Pluto.
These Cohort aspects both bring financial success, therefore amplify that shared energy. There are other interpretations for each individual aspect, but the amplification only pertains to the overlapping meanings.
Geometric Gravity
[Old: Enhancement Dominance]
A Geometry exerts a ‘gravitational’ force on the Aspects within it A Geometry that includes primarily constructive points in primarily constructive angles will ‘pull’ a single negative point or angle into positive ‘gravity’, a positive interpretation of energies.
Geometric Synergy or Geometric Alignment
[Old: Aspect Confirmation}
Geometries are not interchangeable. The energy the Geometry delivers is specific to the energies of the points in the Geometry. When locking a date, you must align the meanings of the points with the desired outcome.
Interpreting Geometries
Basically, a Geometry means what the points and angles say it means.
It’s as powerful as the Rarity Value says it is.
Let’s break this down….
Imagine a Grand Trine with Venus, Jupiter, and Odin.
Obviously this would be a gorgeous thing to see in a natal chart, a combined chart, or in your transits or progressions.
- Look at the Cohort or Contra interpretation.
All 3 points in this example are in the helpful Cohort, so likely a helpful geometry.
Venus and Odin are in the financial Cohort.
Jupiter rules growth and benevolence.
Interpretation of Geometries containing Cohorts usually follow the similar Cohort meanings. - Look at the Geometry interpretation.
A Grand Trine is a highly helpful, synergistic Geometry with some rarity value
How tight the orbs are will help determine full rarity value.
- Look at planet meanings. Overarching points don’t have specific meanings, drill down to points with granular meanings.
- Jupiter and Odin are overarching and helpful. Venus is specific. One of Venus’ meanings will likely be part of the expression of this Geometry.
- To understand all possible meanings of a Geometry, read and combine all the possible meanings of the points involved.
Example Just a few sample keywords for each here. Go to each point’s lesson page to see all the possible meanings.
Jupiter = Benevolence, Growth, Good Fortune
Odin = Luck, Status, Resources
Venus = Beauty, Charm, Flirtation
Experiment with combinations of meanings:
Benevolent Lucky Flirtation
Growth of Status through Charm
Good Fortune builds Resources in Beauty
Play through the combinations, put the keywords into different order, go through all the possible interpretations. Cohort points most often stick close to the shared Cohort meanings.
- Put it all together, most likely general interpretation:
- In a Natal Chart: Likely a generous person able to make money relatively easily, especially in a Venus career. By Transit or Progression: Likely a period of growth in finances, attractiveness, appeal, charm.
- In a Combined chart: Likely a mutually-beneficial financial relationship, could be highly affectionate.
YES. There are more possible interpretations!!!
Interpret 2-planets aspects the same way.
See Lesson: Planets & Points
Combined Geometry
Geometry can also be formed when two charts are combined in a CC Chart. With both sets of points visible, lines can be drawn between points aspecting each other.
Combined aspect lines create combined Geometry.
Combined Geometry is interpreted the same way as Geometry in an individual chart.
